After the Cursing Subsided, Cubs Pull It Out

Let's just say I wasn't thrilled with the way a lot of the game went yesterday.

The 7-0 early lead was great.

The 3 scoreless innings in relief by Jon Leiber in route to the win were a welcome sight.

The 2 runs in the top of the 12th were nice, as was the three outs in four batters by Carlos Marmol in the bottom of the 12th to secure his first save of the season.

The rest of the game, not so pretty.

It is never a good thing to blow a 7-0 lead, even if you end up with a 10-8 win in the 12th.

That may be true, Sweet Lou, but if you have a 7-0 lead, I'd rather win one without having to use everyone on the team but the backup catcher and the one pitcher you said you wouldn't use no matter what.

That being said, the Cubs did pull it out for their 3rd consecutive win and get a much needed day off to rest everyone after the 12 inning, 4 and a half+ hour game.

Today, I'll be out at the Ballpark in Arlington for the Texas Rangers Opening Day against the Baltimore Orioles. Former Astro (although not for very long) and Dallas native Jason Jennings is on the hill for the Rangers, Brian Burres is going for the O's.

My first live baseball of the season, exciting!
